How do I add a unit of measure that is not among the ready ones?
What you will do
A unit of measure is what an item is measured in: "م²" for plastering, "م³" for concrete, "طن" for steel. You choose one for each item, and it shows with the item's quantity and price. On this page you see the units that come ready in your account, and you add the ones you are missing.
Before you start
- Your account starts with ready units, with Arabic names: "م²", "م³", "م.ط", "متر", "طن", "كجم", "لتر", "عدد", "قطعة", "شيكارة", "ساعة", "يوم", "مقطوعية", "نقطة" and "شقة". So you will rarely need to add one.
- The system does not stop you from repeating a unit name. Search for the unit before you add it, so it does not show twice in the unit list.
Steps
Add a unit
- Open Units in the side menu, then All Units.
- Type the unit's name in Search by unit name... to make sure it is not there already.
- Click Add Unit. A side drawer opens.
- Type the Unit Name, then click Save Data. "Unit saved successfully" appears.
To add several units, click Save & add another instead of Save Data. The unit is saved, and the drawer stays open and empty for the next one.
Add a unit while writing an item
If you cannot find the unit while adding an item, choose "+ Add New Unit" at the end of the Unit list. Type the Name, then click "Add and use". The unit is added and selected for the item.
Rename a unit
- In All Units, click Edit on the unit's row.
- Change the Unit Name, then click Modify Data. "Unit updated successfully" appears.
The new name shows on every item that uses the unit, so you do not need to edit the items.
Delete a unit
- Tick the box next to the unit.
- Click Delete selected, then Yes, Delete. "The items have been deleted successfully" appears.
The system does not stop you from deleting a unit that items use, and it does not warn you. After the deletion, its name stays on those items, but it disappears from the Unit list. So delete only a unit you added by mistake, or a duplicate. Before you delete a duplicate, change the items that use it to the other unit. Each item's unit shows in the Unit Name column of All Construction Items.
What changes after you save
- After a rename: the new name shows on every item that uses the unit, in the items list and in projects.
- After a deletion: the unit cannot be restored from the screen. If you need it, add it again.
Permission you need
You are the account owner, so you have every permission. If you want an employee to do this for you, give their permission level View Units, Add Units, Edit Units and Delete Units.
If you can't find the button or saving is refused
- "Wrong" with the text UNITS_DETAILS.VALIDATION.NAME: the unit name is empty. Type it, then save. (In the Arabic interface, the message reads "Please enter the unit name".)
- A unit shows twice in the list: it was added twice. Change the items that use one of them to the other, then delete it.
- An item has no unit when you open it to edit: its unit was deleted. Choose a unit for it, then save.
- Add Unit is missing: your account does not have Add Units.
